Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU): ANGARU was established under the name of Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) on the 12th of June 1964 through the APAU Act 1963. Later, it was renamed as Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University on the 7th of November, 1996 in honor and memory of the noted Parliamentarian and Kisan Leader, Acharya N. G. Ranga.

At the verge of completion of Golden Jubilee Year of the ANGRAU, it has given birth to a new State Agricultural University namely Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University with the bifurcation of the state of Andhra Pradesh as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act 2014. The ANGRAU at LAM, Guntur is serving the students and the farmers of 13 districts of new State of Andhra Pradesh with renewed interest and dedication.
ANGRAU is governed by a 21 members Board of Management with the Vice-Chancellor as Chairman. This apex body is responsible for making policy decisions.
Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University offers both Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes in the faculties of Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering & Technology and Home Science.ANGRAU at present has five Agricultural Colleges under Agriculture Faculty, two Colleges of Agricultural Engineering and two colleges of Food Science and Technology under Agril. Engineering and Technology faculty and one College of Home Science under Home Science faculty.
In addition to these, the University is running two Post Graduate Colleges i.e. Advanced Post Graduate Centre at Lam, Guntur, and Institute of Agri-Business Management at Tirupati. There are fifteen Agricultural Polytechnics, one Seed Technology Polytechnic and one Organic Farming Polytechnic offering two-year Post-metric diploma programme in Telugu medium and two Agricultural Engineering Polytechnics offering three-year diploma programme in English medium.

ANGRAU Courses And Admission
The Institute offers B.Tech and B.Sc.programs in streams like Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, and Home Science at the UG level, M.Sc and M.Tech programs at the PG level and Ph.D. in various disciplines at the Doctorate level.
Admissions In Undergraduate Courses
Admission to the B.Tech / B.Sc program is on the basis of marks acquired by the candidate in 10+2 (Science Stream). Selection to the program is based on candidate’s performance in EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test) organized by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.
Admission In Post Graduate Courses
The University offers twenty specializations in the M.Sc program and three specializations in the M.Tech program at the Postgraduate level. Applying candidate must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline. Selection is made on the basis of Entrance exam conducted by the University. Final selection to the program is made after analyzing candidates academic performance, group discussion and personal interview round.
Admissions In Ph.D. Courses
ANGRAU offers the Ph.D. course in eighteen specializations at the Doctorate level. Candidates applying for these courses must hold a Master’s degree from a recognized Institute/University. Selection of the programs will be on the basis of Written test and Personal Interview.

ANGRAU Eligibility Criteria
The University offers B.Tech and B.Sc. courses in various disciplines. Selection to B.Sc. (Hons) in Agriculture, B.Tech is done on the basis of EAMCET entrance examination. Admission to B.Sc (Hons) in Community Science is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.
For admission to the second year in B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, candidate needs to qualify AGRICET for which they need to have passed Diploma in Agriculture. Whereas admission to the second year of B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering is given on the basis of AGRIENGGCET conducted by the university. Candidates need to qualify a Diploma in Agricultural Engineering.

AGRIENGGCET 2019 – Points To Remember
- The candidates should have completed a minimum of 18 years of age as on December 31st of the admission year and a maximum of 23 years.
- In case of SC/ST category, he should be of a maximum of 26 years of age and 28 years in respect of PC candidates.
- Qualifying marks – 25% of the maximum marks of the entrance test. However, there are no qualifying marks for the candidates of SC/ST category.
- 15% of the supernumerary seats are reserved for AGRIENGGCET.
- The upper age limit of 22 years old is relaxed in certain situations. It is 25 years of age for 6)SC/ST candidates and 27 for those with physical disabilities.
- For B.Tech in Food Technology, 50% of the seats will be filled with students from Bi.P.C. stream and the rest will be filled by M.P.C. stream.
- 40% of the seats are reserved under Farmer’s Quota.
- 20% of the supernumerary seats are reserved for AGRICET.
- Candidates having Diploma in Home Science can also apply for B.Sc. in Community Science under 10% of the supernumerary seats.
Postgraduate/Master Courses
The University offers a number of postgraduate courses in various disciplines. It also offers MBA in Agricultural Management. The university offers M.Sc. in Agriculture and Home Science leading to various disciplines. It offers M.Tech in Agricultural Engineering leading to three disciplines. Minimum eligibility for M.Tech is a candidate must have passed B.Tech in respective specializations. For M.Sc., the candidate must pass in B.Sc. degree with relevant specializations of four-year duration. For MBA, candidates must pass in a Bachelor’s degree with relevant discipline.
Selection to M.Tech and M.Sc. is done on the basis of entrance examination conducted by the university. For MBA, candidates are selected on the basis of Entrance Test, Group Discussion and Interview.
