Damper On Energy Drinks

In keeping with its name, energy drinks give one an extra boost of energy. Whenever you’re feeling low on energy just grab on energy I drink and you start feeling better. But are these drinks really giving you energy is a question to ponder upon. Most of the time, people are not fully aware of what they are actually drinking and consume these drinks following their fascination for the taste and the ‘ look of the product. There are many myths that need to be busted when it comes to energy drinks. We list a few here.

Myth 1
Energy drinks contain higher amounts of caffeine than coffee.

Fact
Most of the energy drinks contains enough caffeine that is good for enjoyment and must be burned oft by the body.

Myth 2
Energy drinks increase the metabolism.

Fact
Yes, initially. it does give your metabolism a quick boost but that is only temporary. Afterwards, your body is stuck with the carbohydrates and caffeine neither of which helps is boosting your metabolism.

Myth 3
Energy drinks provide long-lasting energy.

Fact
They only provide you with a quick squirt of energy but as soon as the drink is finished and the effect is over, your energy level tends to crash because of the falling of GI levels of the body. It weakens the body, increases the heart rate and also the blood pressure.

Myth 4
Energy drinks are harmless

Fact
If you take energy drinks occasionally, it might not cause much harm to your health but increasing consumption of energy drinks can lead to adverse health effects. If you get addicted to energy drinks, it will prove to be harmful for
your health. It also has no nutritive value.

Myth 5
Energy brinks help improve athletic performance.

Fact
Although a lot of ads feature this claim, there has been little proof to substantiate this. Some substances in energy drinks can give your body a boost but the energy drinks do not contain enough for ¡t to make a difference.

Conclusion

Always be aware of what you are consuming and make sure of what the labels say as most of these drinks differ in caffeine content and other stimulants.
