International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is a competition in science for students who are fifteen years or younger, held every year on 31 December IJSO aims to promote interest in science for school going children to expose them to problem-solving, critical thinking and experimentation. Around 50 member countries participate in IJSO every year. The IJSO competitive exam includes theory paper as well as practical tasks related to the topics of science.

These tests address the ability of students to apply concepts to the situations described in the tests. The main aim of IJSO is for young people to experience different cultures and to help students interact with other students coming from different parts of the world. The IJSO states that no country may have its delegation excluded from participation on political grounds, lack of diplomatic relations, lack of recognition by the government of the organizing country, imposed embargoes, or other similar reasons. It is expected that the team representing the country has been selected after some form of national effort.IJSO allows participation either by a country, a delegation or an observer. The 16th International Junior Science Olympiad will take place in Doha, Qatar from the 3rd to the 12th of December. This time the IJSO is organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in collaboration with Qatar University. It has two programs under its name

To ensure fair and enjoyable experience at the IJSO, certain guidelines have been laid down
IJSO 2019 Guidelines
- Competitors must be born on or after 1 January 2004, i.e. they must not be older than 15 years old
- A standard team consists of six students and three leaders. If a standard team cannot be fulfilled, a minimum team of three students and one leader can be allowed to participate in IJSO. Teams consisting of less than three members do not qualify for team awards
- Participants are not allowed to use their own collection of formulae from mathematics, chemistry, physics, etc. during the competition.
- Participating countries agree to pay the participation fee at the time that the host country decides, obey all the rules of the IJSO statutes and any additional rules made by the Host Country for the ongoing event.
- Each participating country that has either participated with a team or sent an observer to the IJSO in one of the previous two years, is invited to send a delegation of six students and three team leaders.
IJSO 2019 Eligibility Criteria
A student is eligible to represent his/her country if he/she holds a valid passport of that country or is in the education system of that country for at least one academic year.

IJSO 2019 Exam pattern and Syllabus
- The IJSO 2019 exam has both subjective and objective section.
- The syllabus of the IJSO exam include subjects like physics, chemistry, biology.

IJSO 2019 Registration Date
- Last date for pre-registration is May 31, 2019.
- For IJSO 2019, students should be born on or after 1-January-2004.
