Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) 2019 is the state level examination. This examination is conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority. The exam is the gateway for several courses namely: MBA, MCA, lateral entry in the 2nd year of MCA, ME, M.tech, M.Arch and will be conducted on July 15, 2019.
Candidates who will clear Karnataka PGCET exam will secure their seats at University Post Graduate Centers, University Departments, Private and government aided institutes available in Karnataka. Arch and M.Tech courses, and having a valid GATE score will not be appearing for the entrance test, but need to fill the application form to become eligible for admission.

Karnataka PGCET 2019 Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for Karnataka PGCET 2019 is different for different courses. These criteria are necessary to be fulfilled by the candidates in order to give the exam.
- Candidates with the domicile of Karnataka are eligible to give the exam.
- Candidates of Non-Karnataka can fill the form for the surrendered seats.
MBA – Full Time
- Qualifying Exam: Applying candidate must have passed his/her Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years duration or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
- Qualifying Marks: Candidate must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all subjects in all years of degree exam. In case of ST/SC and Category – I of Karnataka, qualifying marks will be 45%.
MBA – Part Time
- Qualifying Exam: Applying candidate must have passed his/her Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years duration or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
- Qualifying Marks: Candidate must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all subjects in all years of degree exam. In case of ST/SC and Category – I of Karnataka, qualifying marks will be 45%.
- Work Experience: Candidate applying for a Part-Time MBA Programme must have worked in an establishment and must be working in an organization situated within a radial distance of 40 km from the applying institution after obtaining the degree. Candidate must have worked for not less than three years as on 31st July 2019.
MCA Programme
- Qualifying Exam: Applying candidate must have passed his/her Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
- Qualifying Su bjects: Candidate must have passed his/her Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics or Computer Science or Statistics or Computer Programming or Computer Applications or Business Statistics or Business Mathematics as one of the optional subjects.
- Qualifying Marks: Candidate must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all subjects in all years of degree exam. In case of ST/SC and Category – I of Karnataka, qualifying marks are 45%.
M.Tech/M.E/M.Arch Programme (Full Time)
- Qualifying Exam: Applying candidate must have passed his/her qualifying examination or equivalent prescribed by the Competent Authority.
- Qualifying Marks: Candidate must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all subjects in all years of degree exam. In case of ST/SC and Category – I of Karnataka, qualifying marks are 45%.
- Candidates with valid GATE score are also eligible.
M.Tech/M.E/M.Arch Programme (Part Time)
- Qualifying Exam: Applying candidate must have passed his/her qualifying examination or equivalent prescribed by the Competent Authority.
- Qualifying Marks: Candidate must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks taken together in all subjects in all years of degree exam. In case of ST/SC and Category – I of Karnataka, qualifying marks are 45%.

Karnataka PGCET 2019 Application Form
The application form can be filled by the candidate in the following steps
- Visit the official website of the Karnataka PGCET 2019, www.kea.kar.nic.in
- Fill the form by filling up all the correct details to get the login ID and password.
- Using the login id and password fill the student’s profile and click to save
- Once all the details have been saved, the candidate needs to upload a scanned image of his/her photograph (not more than 1 MB size), signature, left-hand thumb impression, and parent signature.

- The fee needs to be paid in any of the branches of specified banks. One copy of the Challan will be retained by the bank, and the remaining two copies will be handed over to the candidate

Karnataka PGCET 2019 Marking Scheme
- As shown below, each paper is of 100 marks, with part 1 consisting questions of 1 mark and part 2 consisting questions of 2 marks.
- There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
Karnataka PGCET 2019 Seat Allotment
The seat allotment procedures are given below for the different courses available.
For ME/M.Tech/M.Arch
- The preference is given to the GATE scorecard holders irrespective of the state reservation.
- Candidates having eligible PGCET 2019 score will be allotted the remaining seats. Candidates from Karnataka will be given the preference with 90% reservation in seats.
- The candidates with domiciles outside the state of Karnataka will be allotted the left vacant 10% seats.
For MCA And MBA
- The general category and reserved category seats under Government seats will be allotted to only those candidates who are Karnataka candidates.
- The general category seats under Management seats will be allotted to both Karnataka and non-Karnataka candidates.
The 3 % seats according to the Government norms are reserved for the disabled and differently able candidates. A time period of three days will be given to candidates from the date of hosting of the allotment details on the website in the first round, to decide whether to take admission or not.
Karnataka PGCET 2019 Merit list
- The merit of the candidate will be determined separately for each course.
- If the merit of two candidates is same, inter see merit will be determined on the basis of the marks that candidates possess in the qualifying examination. One with higher marks will be given preference. If there are still any tie in the marks, age will be considered and the candidate who is elder will be preferred.
- For M.E./ M.Tech/ M.Arch courses, the merit list will be prepared on the basis of GATE valid score for GATE qualified candidates. Selected candidates will be preferred on the basis of their employment in government organization/ public sector/ private organization.
- All non-GATE candidates will have to appear for Karnataka PGCET 2019.
