BSF Recruitment 2019: Border Security Force announced notification for 1072 vacancies of Head Constable (Radio Operator/ Radio Mechanic). The process of recruitment begins when the notifications of online applications are out. The applications are open to all irrespective of their gender. This time around BSF has opened the vacancies for head constable in radio operator and radio mechanic. This is a group C recruitment which will be for a temporary basis. The applications for head constable will be available online from May 14 till June 12. Some of the details regarding BSF Recruitment 2019 are
- The job role will be head constable.
- There are a total of 1072 vacancies for this post.
- The salary range for this post will be from Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month.
- The job location will be across PAN India.
- The age limit of a candidate is determined. The candidate cannot be less 18 years of age. The maximum age limit for a candidate belonging to a general category is 25 years. For candidates of other categories, the age limit is higher.
- There is also an application fee of Rs. 100 to the people belonging to the general category. While the candidates from other categories are exempted from this fee.
BSF Recruitment 2019 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications for BSF recruitment 2019
There are a few criteria one has to meet if he or she wants to qualify for the initial recruitment phase. These criteria are very basic when you compare it with other recruitment exams.
Head constable for the radio operator and radio mechanic: The person should have two years of ITI certificate from electronics or radio and TV, computer operator, data preparation and computer software, programming assistant, etc or matriculation or equivalent of this from a recognized board is acceptable. A person who has passed 12th standard with physics, mathematics, and chemistry as the main subjects are also qualified for the recruitment. Although the person should have an aggregate of 60% in PCM subjects. The educational qualification for both the posts is the same.
BSF Recruitment 2019 Selection Criteria
The vacancies available are for the BSF that is border security force. Thus, there is a procedure that is followed before the final selection of the candidates. This procedure includes everything from written test to the physical test. The BSF Recruitment Selection is based on four stages as follows:
- Written Examination (OMR Based Screening Test)
- PST/PET & Documentation
- Descriptive Test
- Medical Examination
Written Test: The first phase of the selection criteria is a written test. In this, the candidate will be given an OMR based screening test.

PST/PET & Documentation: This will be followed by phase 2 which will be a physical efficiency test. This phase will also include PST and Documentation. If a candidate qualifies this stage than only he/she will appear for the second stage in descriptive writing.

Descriptive Test: Phase 3 of recruitment is a descriptive written test. The criteria for the radio operator and radio mechanic in this phase is different. For RO, a candidate must qualify dictation test as well as descriptive in order to appear for the second stage of descriptive writing. While for RM, a candidate needs to qualify the descriptive test for this stage.
Medical Examination: The final phase which is phase 4 is the final medical examination. For medical examination, there are a few physical and medical standards that one must qualify for. For male candidates, the minimum height should be 168 cm and for female candidates, the height should be minimum 157 cm. The chest size for male candidates should be 80 cms which on expansion can be 85 cms. The weight of the candidates should be corresponding to their height and age. There are also some medical standards that a candidate has to fulfill for the recruitment. The candidate should have a minimum distant vision of 6/6 and 6/9 for both the eyes without correction. Thus, the candidate should have this vision without glasses. Furthermore, he/she should pass a high-grade color vision test. Also, the person should not have flat feet, knock knees or varicose vein. He/she should also possess CP – III by ISHIHARA. The applicant needs to have a healthy body and a sound mind. They should also be free from any deform or defect that is likely to affect the performance during the duties.

BSF Recruitment Application Fees
- The Application Fee for OBC and General Categories is 100/- for the application form. For SC/ST, BSF serving personnel, and Female applicants of all categories are exempted from paying the application fees.
- Applicants can pay the BSF Application Form Fee through SBI Online payment gateway using Internet Banking, Debit card, Credit card or BHIM pay
BSF Recruitment General Points
- Original and Self-attested photocopies of educational qualifications and date of birth are to be produced during the PST/PET & Documentation process.
- Candidates should have a sound mental and bodily health and free from any defect or deformity.
- The minimum standards related to chest measurement in terms of male candidates can be relaxed from 80 cms unexpanded and 85 cms expanded to 76 cms unexpanded and 81 cms expanded respectively for Adivasis or Tribals.
- Candidates can apply for both the HC/RO as well as HC/RM posts depending on their eligibility for the respective posts.
- Only those applicants who are citizens of India and are willing to serve anywhere in India or Abroad should apply.
- Applicants are required to use their own mobile number and valid & active personal e-mail id while applying online. They should keep their number and email id active for the entire duration of recruitment.

BSF Final Result
The final result for both the posts along with the merit will be prepared separately. For RO post, the total marks obtained in the dictation test and descriptive test will be counted. Thus, it will 100 + 100 marks. While for RM post, the total marks obtained out of 200 marks in descriptive test will be counted.
